About
Hello musicians! My name is Jessica Blakley and I am the founder of MusiCare Education, Inc.. It is such a privilege to spend each and every day doing what I love, shaping future musicians.
A little bit about me...
I was born and raised in Miami surrounded by musical opportunities. In second grade, my music teacher, Mr. Diez, inspired me to want to become a music teacher when I grew up. I attended Southwood Middle School (under the direction of Debbie Mar) and Coral Reef High School (under the direction of John Rose), both in the Chorus Magnet Programs. I was inspired each and every day by my teachers and friends. I attended Florida Gulf Coast University and graduated with a Bachelors of Music Education and a K-12 Music Teaching Certificate.
Interning at East Bay High School prepared me to land a job as the Choir Director at Orange Grove Middle Magnet School of the Arts in Tampa. The pandemic began just after my third week at Orange Grove. I learned so much about music and myself in the last two years, but most importantly, I learned how to teach the whole child.
Anyone can teach music. My goal is to use music as my vessel to guide students into learning leadership, problem-solving, teamwork, and independence. If it took a village to raise a child before recent events, it takes a planet now. I want to be part of that journey for every child I can.
